SYNOPSIS

Kathleen Wooddell's creative writing class in Jacksonville, Florida, is a place where no holds are barred, where students learn to express long-suppressed feelings and to trust that they will be heard and understood. One class assignment proved so powerful, the students decided to hold a poetry slam and to invite the people featured in their work. The result is an overwhelming evening with parents and siblings listening and reacting to words spoken from the heart, filled with fear, longing, rage and hope.
