SYNOPSIS

On September 11, 2001, a tragedy struck America and changed the world as we know it. It forever altered the lives of families who lost their fathers, husbands, and brothers. We trace the journeys of four families over nearly twenty years, focusing on children who were born after their fathers were killed when the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were struck.  As they come of age, they reflect on how the loss has shaped their lives and begin to tell their own stories of hope and inspiration.

REBUILDING HOPE: THE CHILDREN OF 9/11 commemorates the 20th anniversary of this tragic event through the lives of Generation Z children who lost their fathers. The film offers a deeply personal perspective on loss and resilience as it evolves over time, from the perspective of young people whose lives have been bracketed by two earth-shaking events, and who are coming of age in an unprecedented moment of uncertainty.

Directed and Produced by Ellen Goosenberg Kent. Senior Editor Rachel Reichman, Editor Jonathan Miller. Producer Bennett Elliott. Executive Producers for Talos Films: Elli Hakami and Julian P. Hobbs. Executive Producers for Discovery: Lauren Frasca and Donna MacLetchie. Executive Producers for PEOPLE: Liz McNeil, Dan Wakeford and Cynthia Sanz.
